        Instilling Beauty, Goodness, & Truth

        Through Dance

Utilizing the Pedagogical Teaching Method of Classical Ballet

        broken image

        Developed by

        Agrippina Vaganova & Vera Kostrovitskaya.

It is a systematic approach that is scientifically based and physiologically sound. When taught and executed correctly; it not only develops grace and strength, but does not
        produce injuries.

It is a proven method that has produced some of the most famous ballet dancers, such as; M. Baryshnikov, G. Komleva, N. Dudinskaya, and G. Mezentseva.

        broken image

Rebecca Zeese has been actively teaching Classical Ballet to children and adults since 1998.

She has a B.A. in Dance from Texas Tech University. Additionally, she attended for eight consecutive years the Annual International Ballet Congress taught by the Late Dr. Peggy Willis-Aarnio, PhD., to learn how to teach using The Teaching Method of Classical Ballet.

Rebecca has been using the method since 1998 - thus, she has become well-versed in teaching it.

Rebecca was originally trained in the Cecchetti Method taught by Mavis Pakenham in Colorado Springs. She has studied under Marjorie Grundvig and Dennis Marshall. She finished her training in Lubbock, TX, under the direction of Dr. Aarnio and Galina Panova. She has studied and danced all eight levels of the Teaching Method of Classical Ballet. She has performed in numerous Classical and Modern pieces over the years.

She still performs when opportunities arise.

She taught for16 years at Star Steps Dance studio under the direction of Elizabeth Parks. She currently teaches at the Santa Fe Family Life Center in OKC.

      • Rebecca's Story:

Rebecca injured her knee, dislocating it 3 times, early on in high school. Ultimately, she ended up having surgery because her kneecap would not stay in the correct place. After the surgery, she stopped taking ballet lessons the last two years of high school. However, on a whim at her college freshman orientation, she signed up to take a ballet class that met 5 days a week.

At the time, little did she know - that in less than a year - she would completely change her goals of becoming a Neurologist to a ballet teacher and passing on a pedagogical ballet legacy rooted in Beauty, Truth, & Goodness!

One major cause of her knee injury was due to insufficient training in ballet. Therefore, she was ecstatic to find a teaching method of ballet that does not cause injuries and one that was also rehabilitative [as seen in her own personal life].

One of the things she is passionate about is spreading the news that the most common injuries in ballet can be and are preventable with the proper ballet training.

She is happy to pass on the Beautiful tradition of classical ballet to the next generation; while instilling Truth & Goodness - Come Dance with us! Info@littleflowerballet.com

      • Favorite Ballet Things

Over the years I have tried a lot of different things -

Here are some of my personal favorites.

        Canvas Ballet Slippers

        Russian Pointe Vivante

These are incredibly lightweight and comfortable. I was skeptical because the elastic came pre-sewn. They are a great shoe and the stretch fabric really hugs the instep giving a nice line.

        https://www.russianpointe.com/product/vivante-stretch-canvas-slipper/

        Hair Pins

        Bundheads

I have used these forever and use them in my daughters' hair.

        Pointe Shoes

        Gaynor Minden

,These were a game changer for me. Although, I do not recommend them for a beginner on pointe, I think for the seasoned dancer they are great.

No longer, does it feel like you are dancing with bricks on your feet. They are lightweight and the shank does not breakdown. Which is why I do not recommend them for beginning pointers. It is very important that the shank is not too stiff as it can weaken the foot muscles.

If fitted correctly they are a great shoe!

        Leather Ballet Slippers

        Sansha Sillouette Split-sole leather

Great shoe and they have a Split-sole.
